Children? Two children, Andrew is 16 and Katie and is 14
How many races have you run? Probably around 40 counting the ones in high school, 5 of which have been half marathons
How many races have you run in a single year? 6
What was your first race? In high school I ran a 10K in Myrtle Beach that wasn't part of the high school team. I ran cross country and track in high school and did many races back then.
Where else have you lived? Burlington NC, Aurora CO, and Asheville NC
One race you would recommend to everyone (i.e. favorite race)? Shamrock Half Marathon- great weather, flat course, great pre and post parties
Favorite Ice Cream Flavor? It depends, my favorite changes all the time
What can’t you go a day without? Nothing really. I’m not really a creature of habit. I love spontaneity, and new things, places, etc. But if I had to say something, I would say my husband and children.
One food you absolutely hate? Anchovies
Do you play a musical instrument? I play some piano
What would people be surprised to know about you? Hmmm, too many things to list on this one actually, but none that I want to share…..LOL.
What would you consider the best kept secret about running in Fredericksburg? Probably the Harrison Road trail behind the trash dump.
My Philosophy: Don’t let the fear of death get in the way of living. Live your life in the moment, not preparing for what lies ahead, or trying to forget what was in the past.

Nickname- Bobby Where do you live? How many races have you run in a year? I have run 50 races in one year. How many races have you run? About 500 races since 1990. What was your first race? Apple Blossom 10k in Where else have you lived? One race you would recommend to everyone (ie. favorite race)- Cascades 10k Fire Chase, Favorite ice cream flavor? Strawberry What can't you go a day without? My running. One food you absolutely hate? Fried liver. How many pr's have you run in a year? I ran 16 pr's in a year in 2006. What would people be surprised to know about you? My age. What would you consider the best kept secret about running in How many days do you train in a week? I train 6 days a week.

How long have you lived in the Fredericksburg area? I have lived in Westmoreland County for 34 yrs.
Children: Two daughters, Elizabeth and Angela. Four grandchildren.
How many races have you run? Maybe averaged 10 for about 20 years.
What was your first race? A 10k in Montross, VA.
Where else have you lived? Galax and Fairfax, VA; Spokane and Tacoma WA; Berlin, Germany; Key West, FL; Somerville, NJ; Mobile, AL; and Sumter, SC.
One race you would recommend to everyone (i.e., favorite race)? Believe it or not, the Blue and Gray 1/2 Marathon.
Favorite Ice Cream Flavor? Chocolate in a cone. Once it was called Frozen Custard. Anyone remember that?
What can't you go a day without? Exercise. It makes me feel better no matter how the rest of the day goes.
One food you absolutely hate: Celery.
Do you play a musical intstrument? No, but love music.
What would people be surprised to know about you? That I rode my bicycle from Portland, Maine to Orlando, Florida - in 19 days. And that I live on a working farm and raise cattle; my grandson named my Black Angus Bull Shadow.
What would you consider the best kept secret about running in Fredericksburg? FARC is a great organization founded and run by great folks. The community would be surprised at how much FARC donates in time and money.
My Philosophy: I cannot sow and reap the same day.

How long have you lived in the Fredericksburg area? 5 years
Children: Two sons, age 27 and 28
How many races have you run? Too many to remember. 10 marathons.
What was your first race? Elementary school, 1968, the mile at a track meet.
Where else have you lived? Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, California, Nevada, North Carolina, Hawaii, Tennessee, Japan
One race you would recommend to everyone (i.e., favorite race)? Rock & Roll Half Marathon, Virginia Beach
Favorite Ice Cream Flavor? Vanilla
What can't you go a day without? Weight lifting and other strength training.
One food you absolutely hate: Liver.
Do you play a musical intstrument? No
What would people be surprised to know about you? I am a retired Marine (27 years) with a M.A. in Liberal Arts and a teacher who teaches middle school Family and Consumer Sciences.
What would you consider the best kept secret about running in Fredericksburg? How competitive the local runners and races are when compared to other communities and running clubs around the country.
My Philosophy: Life is a daily journey of love, friendship, action, learning, commitment, nourishment and physical fitness but not necessarily in that order for everyone.

How many races have you run? Can't count. 26 marathons.
What was your first race? Turkey Trot 2000
Where else have you lived? Alexandria VA; Woodbridge VA; Tampa FL; Takoma Park MD
Best vacation spot: France; the Outer Banks (where I ran for the first time)
What can't you go a day without? Finding a take-away - the obvious gift we so often don't see
One food you absolutely hate: Onions

What would people be surprised to know about you? I was a cocktail waitress in the days of disco, haha, I'm not really a blonde :-)
What would you consider the best kept secret about running in Fredericksburg? It's no secret: Fredericksburg abounds in great routes to run, and the people are amazing. It's a place where runners of every ability can feel comfortable.
My Philosophy: Look forward, not back, and always strive to improve. Every day is a gift if we are open enough to see it. And when things aren't great, do your best to make lemonade. These days I'm faced with a lot and have decided that, if my face is going to freeze, it'll freeze with a smile on it.
